 Welcome to 2nd Grade! My name is Shannon Berrigan and I am your child's teacher this year! We will break for a snack every morning at 10:30. Please pack your son/daughter with a small, preferably healthy snack and drink!

Current Units of Study:

Writing

  • We are currently "Writing about Reading" by writing friendly letters in which we recommend books that we have read to others. We even include text evidence and reasons why we are recommending that book! 
  • Next, we will nominate a book for an award of our choice! We will be writing this piece using paragraphs as we provide text evidence in order to support our claim! 

Reading

  • Nonfiction and biographies
  • We are continuously working towards applying our reading comprehension strategies while Just Right Reading and reading with our Book Clubs. We are always "Pausing to Post-It" throughout our reading in order to make predictions, make connections, visualize, ask questions and make inferences! 

Social Studies 🌍
